Jubii, a major Danish internet portal and Yahoo! rip-off, decides to cease support for Netscape, according to an article in Computerworld. Less than 1% of their users are using Netscape.
Couldn’t Jubii just write simpler HTML? It’s funny to compare the designs of Yahoo! and Jubii. There’s a pretty clear difference between US design philosophy (=functionality) and Danish design philosophy (=prettyness). :-)

I don't understand the meaning of this statement. Do you suggest that Jubii's design is pretty?

You said it Lars! Danish Webdesigners (in particular) seem to think that HTML is some kind of out-dated-soon-to-be-replaced nuisance of a technology. They would be perfectly happy if the Web was just one big Photoshop slideshow.
The way that top-notch bureaus approach the design process continues to amaze me. They do all their design in Photoshop and show clients glossy laser prints in landscape format! HTML and interaction design only enters the arena after everything is signed off -- at which point the Photoshop files are thrown over the wall to the front-end slaves for them to implement it pixel by pixel.
This, I think, is why Danish Websites look so pretty on the surface (and from a distance) but are SO stiff once you actually start to use them.
hmmm... people tell me I am cranky (or did they say crazy?)
