Time tracking, again

Shortly after I last posted about time tracking tools, Basecamp launched their time-tracking feature. It does the job and it’s nicely done, and I’ve been pondering over this for quite a while, and I still don’t think this feature justifies the additional cost of $456 per year. That’s more than what Microsoft Office costs, and you can keep that for as long as you want. I’m going to stick with Excel for now. It’s clear from the forum thread that I’m not alone on this.

    Yes, you're certainly not alone. I've been playing around with "OfficeTime":http://www.officetime.net/, and think it's pretty cool and unobtrusive. I would've liked to evaluate for a bit longer time, but I might as well purchase the license, as it's only $24.95 at the moment with a free upgrade to 1.0. You can use OfficeTime just like Excel, but also as a timer. You might want to check it out.

    Have you guys checked out Time IQ yet? They've got a free 30 day trial, which is pretty nice so far. It, too, has a timer, and lets you manage client and project lists pretty well. I'll likely sign up after my trial, works great for my freelance tracking. Cheap too.
