  You can still use this nice headset with the USB Telbox. I sort of wrote a review of it at http://www.pinoytechblog.com/archives/skype-for-your-lola. The idea is that you plugin this device to a PC with Windows running Skype. It will have a port where you plugin your phone service and another where you can plugin a phone (cordless or otherwise). It will basically allow you to use the same landline or cordless phone to call contacts in Skype. Switching between the skype network and your phone service is as easy as pressing (*) and dialing the phone number or speed dial number of your skype contact. If you want a higher level of customization and more features, take a look at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/AU-600 It's not very portable but my guess is that you want to use this at home or in an office.

  I've heard very good things about your native GN-Netcom gear. They have a USB wireless headset that I would imagine does what you want. Here's the product on the Australian website: GN 9330 USB And here's the Danish site: http://www.gnnetcom.com/DK/DA I can't find anything that says it works with Skype, but the quick install guide says "works with your standard operating system drivers" so presumably it's some sort of USB standard.

  I may just have found what I'm looking for in the "DUALphone 3088":http://dualphone.net/DUALphone_3088_for_Skype-789.aspx, which I found through the Skype store. It does both Skype and landline calls from the same handset, which uses DECT so that at least in theory it should be possible to connect my Plantronics headset above to the same base unit. I've sent them a question confirming. The way it works with my current setup is that I make the call on the Siemens Gigaset SL1 handset (which has horrible UI, btw), the when it's rining I can connect the headset in (but not before, it refuses), then I can hang up the handset. But then if I happen to be met with one of these menus where you have to dial 2 for whatever crap, then I can't connect the handset into the same call again, so I have to hang up and dial again. So what I have still leaves room for improvement, but it does work well enough. (Isn't it disturbing how much of our lives are filled with technology that basically hasn't understood your use case, but works well enough anyway? That 's one of the things that Apple really understands.) The important bit is that you can turn off the microphone on the handset, so you don't get annoying echo effects. I need to find out if it does that. Oh, and the DKK 1,229 / USD ~200 isn't exactly cheap, but then again, this is nirvana, are you going to pass on that?

  Here's my question to them: --- I have an earlier version of the Plantronics CS55H cordless DECT headset. Will this work with the DUALphone 3088 base station? http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat1210152/cat29990032/prod5720001 I'm picturing that I'll use the handset to make the call, then click the headset to join the line and continue the conversation on headset, while at least muting the microphone of the handset, so it doesn't disturb the call. Is this possible with the DUALphone 3088? --- Here's their response: --- If this headset uses mono minijack 2.5mm connection, it should be compatible with the Dualphone. --- Argh! Did they even read the question before responding? That's more insulting than not accepting questions in the first place.
